Simon is a career civil servant with 25 years’ experience in delivering public service continuous improvements, the last 20 making effective through the effective and appropriate use of digital technologies.
Simon was the programme manager at Broadband Wales ensuring everyone in Wales had access to affordable broadband after which he was the portfolio manager of the Welsh Government’s Digital Wales ten-year strategy bringing together the infrastructure, digital skills, digital economy, digital public services and digital economy.
Simon returned to Welsh Government last year after four years on secondment to Innovation Point where he led the Government’s collaboration in establishing the National Software Academy with Cardiff University and the National Cyber Security Academy with University of South Wales. On his return to Welsh Government Simon conducted the Discovery phase on the need for a digital public services hub and he is now leading the alpha phase of the Centre.
