Russell is COO at Admiral Pioneer an new enterprise launched by Admiral Group – with the aim of seeding, launching and scaling new business initiatives that will become the key growth engines over the next 10-years.

These new businesses will anchor around meeting customer needs in insurance and non-insurance growth areas.

We will achieve this by experimenting and proving new products, business models and partnerships through a disciplined,
discovery driven approach.

Prior to joining Admiral, Russell created and established a CVC function at Nationwide Building society which invested in exciting early stage businesses that will benefit it’s members and society as a whole. Russell has worked across industries as both a consultant at Deloitte and in leadership roles at Zurich, BT and Sky. In all cases he was
focussed on helping organisations transform or develop new capabilities. He lives in Bristol with his family, and has a penchant for flat whites.

A Cardiff native, Johnny has spent the last decade in Asia Pacific helping build FinTech ecosystems in Malaysia and Hong Kong. Listed in the inaugural Forbes Asia 30 Under 30, Johnny co-founded one of the continents first blockchain companies, Neuroware.io, which was subsequently offered a place in Batch 9 of the 500 Startups Accelerator programme in Mountain View, California. Johnny has helped educate numerous organisations, regional banks, national regulators, academic institutions and government departments on how they can understand and adopt new technologies and initiatives. After being one of the key architects of Hong Kong FinTech Week 2017, Johnny was appointed Asia General Manager for SuperCharger FinTech Accelerator. He was also the driving force behind the country’s first academic certification in FinTech via a collaboration with Asia Pacific University. Johnny now works for FinTech Wales as a Strategic Advisor and will be driving projects to foster closer collaboration between academia, start-ups, incumbents and investors in the Welsh FinTech community.

Based at Here East in the heart of the Olympic Park, Plexal is the innovation centre and coworking space that believes in the power of collaboration. We’re building a diverse innovation ecosystem to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing society – beginning with cybersecurity, mobility and social inclusion. Our Innovation Services team specialises in forging connections between industry, academia, investors, startups and scaleups to develop new solutions.
As an innovation lead, Bruno works to accelerate the design and development of new solutions, either by working directly with Plexal’s ecosystem, or by developing internal IP to proactively challenge the market. Bruno’s specific focus area is In-Market Experimentation and he leverages the Olympic park to test solutions in a de-risked real-world environment. Prior to joining the Plexal team, Bruno spent four years in EY’s strategy team, with a focus on innovation strategy and customer-centric design.
