Nicola has spent the majority of her 22 year strong legal career in Wales and London supporting start-up and scale-up businesses, many of whom operate in the Technology market. She has seen many small acorns grow into mighty oak trees and helped them on that journey.

She is a Non-Executive Director of Business in Focus and is a familiar face in the business support community in Wales in particular.

Nicola has worked in private practice and in industry and has varied experience supporting businesses from pre-revenue start-ups to global corporations.

She started working in Blockchain in 2013 and since then has built a growing practice in Digital Assets in particular. She regularly advises on the legal and regulatory aspects of implementing blockchain technology for enterprise. She works closely with start-up and scale-up disrupters with their market propositions, MVP and growth strategies, as well as large corporates on new technology adoption.

Alex is particularly interested in early-stage technology-led businesses that are looking to raise equity finance and are based west Wales, or are willing to move there. His focus is sector-agnostic but has an affinity for consumer businesses.

Prior to joining the company in 2018, Alex gained experience in research and development, technology start-ups, private equity and corporate turnaround, in both developed and emerging economies.

Alex has an honours engineering degree in Mechatronics from Stellenbosch University and MBA from the University of Cape Town and London Business School. He also passed Level 1 of the CFA program.

Michael has worked in technology transfer for over 20 years, commercialising ideas across all sectors including private, healthcare and academia. Michael gained a physics degree from Sheffield University and went on to commercialise a patent portfolio of audio technology across markets in north America and Europe. Michael then moved into NHS commercialisation working for a number of hospitals in the West Midlands commercialising ideas from staff and academics in the sector. This led to Michael running the West Midlands NHS Innovation Hub, a private venture offering IP advice across all hospitals in the region.Michael recently moved to Wales and is now the Senior Technology Transfer Manager for the AgorIP project, leading a technology transfer team to provide support to SME’s across Wales to create state-of-the-art products, form innovative business, create new jobs and a wealthier Wales.
