FinTech is seen as the jewel in the crown for the UK economy as the largest of the emerging tech sectors. FinTech not
only covers those technologies and methods that are applied into the more traditional financial services, but also the
usage of financial mechanisms and business models in existing and emerging sectors.
As a major element of the national FinTech programme in Wales, skills development is a hot topic. We discuss the role of skills in the FinTech ecosystem, and how we can ensure the right skills are available.
Ultimately this places FinTech at the centre of all business that the UK economy undertakes. Currently flourishing it is seen as both a financial tool to
support us post Brexit and C19, as well as one of the elements of the economy to pull us through any economic slump
through its continued to grow.
FinTech Wales works with the HM Treasury Envoy for Wales, the FinTech National Network and within Wales with
Welsh Government and regional councils and growth deals. We represent and are building that environment to
innovate, grow and protect FinTech in Wales.
